Castlemartyr Resort Wedding Photos | Caroline & Paul

August 11, 2016

It was great to be again shooting at Castlemartyr Resort for Paul and Carolines wedding. Personally, for me Castlemartyr is a special location. The labyrinth, manicured gardens and spectacular venue all provide great photographic opportunities.

Caroline and Paul have a great engagement story. Caroline arrived back home after a week travelling with work. Paul walked Caroline into their apartment which had the question, “Will you marry me”, spelled out in photographs on their wall. In retrospect, Paul explained that expecting Caroline to legibly read a sentence spelled out in photographs, after a long haul flight was perhaps a bit too much to ask. But after dropping to one knee, Caroline pieced it all together and said yes.

The Castlemartyr horses add to that aesthetic of the venue. They confidently stroll the grounds, yet are apparently camera shy. We ended up being fortunate and were able to capture Paul and Caroline amongst the horses.

As a photographer it is a must to have good people skills, and in this case having animal skills proved to be a bonus!  Mid shoot one of the horses attempted to lick my face, which added extra humour to the day.

We had great weather for the most part. This allowed guests time to socialize outside on the grounds of Castlemartyr. Outdoor Jenga and crouquet matches kept the afternoon lively, especially as post photograph a pile of Jenga blocks came tumbling down.

Old school style, Paul carried his new bride Caroline over his shoulders for their entrance into their wedding reception. Chivalry is certainly still alive and well, kicking the celebrations into full party flow.

Paul and Caroline, we were delighted to be part of your special day. You were a wonderful couple to photograph, and once again thank you for the beautifully inscribed gift.

Wishing you all the best for the future.
